What a fantastic (and massive!) morning! The Networking Breakfast held this month at Gympie RSL was a brilliant event with a great turnout – it was wonderful to see so many new members and even non-members in attendance. Thank you!

It was also a very busy morning with 3 special guest speakers plus the lovely ladies at Gympie Pilates taking us through a breathing exercise to get the day off to the right start.

First up we heard from Carl Green from Green RV.  For many years, Carl and Green RV have been involved in the Gympie Music Muster as major sponsors.  Carl took us through why this is, what it means for him as a business and how he takes advantage of the event though his support.

  • Muster participants are Green RVs target audience – outdoorsy travelers with a love of our country
  • 1 in 10 visitors to the Muster look to buy an RV within 1-10 years – that’s about 2,500 people out of 25,000 attendants! (And guess where they are likely to go to make a purchase!)
  • The majority of participants live is their target area – Sponsoring the Muster is one aspect of Green RVs marketing plan and ties in well with other promotions and visibility efforts – such as another 30 trade shows throughout the year to find the rest of his market
  • Through Sponsorship, Green RV are able to utilise the Gympie Muster Facebook page – putting them in the hands of the target audience

Carl’s advice:

Make sure you fine tune what will work best.  Don’t spend time and money on things that won’t work for your business.

Next up – speaker 2 of 3 – we heard from Claudia from the Heart of Gold Film Festival. Claudia took us through an exciting program for years 10th Anniversary Film Festival! Excitement is certainly building inside and outside of the Gympie region, with the Facebook page increasing from 2,000 to 8,000 just this year!

Claudia discussed how businesses can become sponsors and not only support and become involved in the event, but also grow your reach by working with it too.  There are now 64 sponsors, most of which are local to our region.   Get excited! The Heart of Gold International Film Festival starts October 6!

Last but not least, Cr Dan Stewart had a word regarding the G150.

In 2017 the Gympie region will be marking its 150th anniversary since the discovery of gold by James Nash. Originally discovered in October 1867, this particular month is also widely recognised as the founding date of the Gympie Township.

During this wonderful year-long salute, the Gympie region will be hosting community-led festivals, events and concerts, and exciting exhibitions and activities that explore our community’s rich heritage and celebrate the evolution of our great town.  This is a fantastic opportunity to get involved as a business and celebrate the birth of our beloved region.

To all of our speakers this month, thank you! We value your time, expertise and advice.
